The break was perfect for us. After finals had owned our lives for a couple weeks, we were done and ready to start the fun. We got to spend a lot of time with our family and some friends that we don't get to see that often.
Some of my cute friends from high school had returned from all places of the country for the holidays. We were able to get together for a few hours at our house and catch up!
For Christmas Eve, we spent all day with Ben's family. We went to The Muppets (a favorite of ours), opened our gifts, and had an incredible feast! (My mother in law is an AMAZING cook!) Then we acted out the nativity and had a little christmas talent music show that everyone got to participate in. It was so fun to watch our cute nephews play with their Star Wars toys, take turns holding our cute niece, Addie, and just spend time together.
That night we made the drive up to Logan for Christmas Eve night. We opened our PJs, and sneakily delivered our annual secret Santa gifts to a family. That part is always the highlight of my Christmas. What better way to honor Christ's birth than to focus on a family in need? Christmas morning was a success! We loved watching each other open presents and had a lot of fun!
Later, all the cousins came over for a special part of Christmas. Our Grandpa Winborg passed away last August. Before he died, he had chosen a possession of his to give to all the grandkids for Christmas. I got a pocketknife and a rodeo belt buckle, and Ben got some sweet cufflinks! Then, of course we passed out all of Grandpa's big guns to the families he had wanted them to go to. It was really special to make Grandpa a big part of our Christmas, even though we all missed him physically.
New Years was SO much fun! We decided to throw a crazy party to celebrate such a great year and the start of another. It was a blast to have everyone dress up, with tons to eat, lots of fun drinks, and dancing to loud music playing on Ben's speakers. It was a success and definitely a new tradition for us.
All in all it was a perfect break! I guess we'd do it again if we had to... :)

Welcome Melissa, welcome! The last picture of you and Ben is so adorable. I love it. We would have loved to attend your New Year's Eve party. We were lonely love birds down South with a movie & junk food. Still fun. It was fantastic to see you and the girls. Keep up the blogging so I can check in one ya. XO!
